Our Vision & Mission

We strive to be champions of holistic education for students with special needs, shaping their destinies while fostering respect for human diversity. Our vision creates a nurturing, inclusive community that supports both children and their families.

At Rotary Sanskardham Academy, we empower these children to become educated, independent, and productive citizens who embody Universal Brotherhood – respected members of society who thrive despite challenges.

Breaking the Barriers

Do you see the glitter of hope in their eyes, the glow of happiness in their smile, and the air of confidence in their faces? A few years ago, these very children—who are hearing-impaired with other disabilities—were scared, depressed, inactive (some even immobile), and lost in a silent world. Today, they have learned to overcome their disabilities and face the world with confidence. Many have even been integrated into mainstream schools—our major achievement—breaking the barriers that once imprisoned them and prevented them from leading normal lives.

We strive to instill this happiness and confidence in as many children with disabilities as possible. This is the goal driving Sanskardham Vidyalaya for the Hearing Impaired (SVHI) since its inception in 1995. Notably, we are the only school in Mumbai catering to hearing-impaired children with additional challenges like spasticity, vision defects, dyslexia, and more.

Enhanced Experience

Run with the support of the Parents and Teachers Association under the dedicated leadership of our principal, Lata Nayak, the school now has 63 students and a 15-member staff. We provide specialized educational aids, engaging learning toys, a library for children and teachers, and an audiology center managed by a hearing-impaired adult.

Strengthening the Link with Society

So far, eleven of our students have been successfully integrated into mainstream schools, including: St. Joseph Convent, Bandra Dr. Radhakrishna Vidyalaya, Malad Esplanade High School, Kandivali St. Thomas, Goregaon Sumati Vidya Kendra, Juhu

Our commitment to these students continues even after integration. Every Saturday, they return to us for additional coaching to ensure they keep pace academically.

We also collaborate with their mainstream school teachers, providing guidance to help them address the unique challenges these children face. For these students, our school serves as a vital bridge to the outside world, and we are dedicated to strengthening that connection

  • 28 students integrated into mainstream schools

  • 12 passed SSC exams with distinction

  • 4 pursued higher education in the U.S.

  • 10 secured employment in India

CONTRIBUTING FACTORS

The following amenities have been instrumental in our success, though they now require upgrades to meet modern standards:

  • Computer Centre

  • Audiology Centre

  • Pre-Vocational Training Centre

  • Library (equipped with CDs & books)

  • Gymnasium

  • Music Room

  • Counselling Centre (for children and parents)

WE NO DOUBT STAND APART

We are Mumbai's only school that:

  • Supports hearing-impaired children with additional challenges (spasticity, vision impairment, mental disabilities, speech defects, and learning disabilities) — 50% of our students have multiple disabilities.

  • Focuses on all-round development.

  • Runs a special hearing aid provision program.

  • Operates a pre-vocational centre where students earn while learning.

  • Maintains an audiology centre staffed by a hearing-impaired professional.

  • Offers innovative therapies like wooden/rope walkham.

Vocational Training for Holistic Growth

Recognizing that not all children thrive in traditional academic settings, we offer vocational training programs in:

  • Cooking

  • Screen Printing

  • Stitching

  • Embroidery

  • Paper Mâché

These skills empower students to build independence and confidence for future opportunities.

Miles to Go and Promises to Keep

While we've made progress, limited space and funding constrain us. Our current premises are overcrowded (some classes meet in corridors), but we've identified an ideal Goregaon plot for expansion and applied to MHADA.

Future Plans Include:
• Audiological/speech training • Hearing aid lab & bank • Diagnostic clinic
• Vocational rehab center • India's first accessible sports complex (pool, courts, fields)

We dream big but need:
✓ Larger campus ✓ Financial support

Join us in our mission

Despite our successful track record, we have not been sanctioned
any aid by the State government. But help has been coming in
from benevolent individuals and a few corporates. Parents have also
been contributing their might.
